Ohhh, my favorite character... would probably be Maggie Tulliver, as predictable as it is. Maggie is a strong woman, she even was a very strong girl. She never let anyone push her around or put her down. And if someone did do something to hurt her, she just tried to pull herself back together and deal with it. I also love Maggie because she is sensitive. She needs to be loved, which goes along with my last comment about the lessons of the book, one of them being the human need for love. She is a great example of sympathy and compassion. Even after Tom insulted Philip, Maggie was still kind to him. Philip asks her "can we at least be friends, Maggie? There is nothing to hinder that now?" And Maggie asks him about his father's opinion and then she tells Philip "there is nothing to hinder our being friends..." (440). Maggie loves Tom a lot and that strikes me about her. She looks up to him so much and would do anything for his approval since the time she was a little girl. Tom was always the one she wanted to take her side and stick up for her, although sometimes he didn't.
